Responding to Relatives – R2R

Those who find their training enjoyable are more likely to remember what was taught. Given that dealing with relatives in an emergency situation is one of the hardest tasks in emergency response and can happen at very short notice. The R2R instructors are highly experienced and as former Police Officers have many years of ‘real’ experience dealing with families during one of the most traumatic times of their lives. They are also members of the OPITO Group set up in 2009 in Aberdeen to review Relative Response Team (RRT) training.

OPITO Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA) & Helideck Emergency Response Team Member (HERTM) Further
Newcastle

Under the supervision of the Offshore Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO), Offshore Helideck Assistants (HDAs) typically carry out routine helideck operations such as maintenance and testing of helideck systems and equipment.

HDAs also assist with passenger embarkation and disembarkation, as well as transferring freight and passenger baggage to and from the helicopter when it has landed on the Helideck of an offshore fixed or mobile installation or vessel.

STCW Personal Survival Techniques (PST) Update Training

STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FPFF) Update Training

This course will ensure seafarers who hold a valid Basic Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FP&FF) certificate as set out in STCW 95 regulation VI/1 and section A-VI/1 of the STCW code can revalidate their competency in accordance with Section A-VI/1 of STCW paragraph 3. Which states that “seafarers qualified in accordance with paragraph 2 in basic training shall be required, every five years, to provide evidence of having maintained the required standard of competence” in accordance with the STCW 2010 Manila Amendments.

STCW Proficiency in Security Awareness (PSA)

The STCW Convention and Code as has been amended by the Manila amendments (2010) contains new requirements regarding security training. All personnel employed or engaged on board ships to which the ISPS Code applies, require this training.

The MCA Accredited STCW ISPS Proficiency in Security Awareness (PSA) Course meets the knowledge, understanding and proficiency requirements set out in Regulation VI/6, paragraph 4 and Section A-VI/6, paragraphs 4 of the STCW  Convention and Code 1978, as amended. Approved by the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA), it has been designed to give delegates an understanding of their various security awareness and understanding of the Ship Maritime Security Levels.

Designed during the fall out of the 9/11 attacks, it is implemented through XI-2 of the SOLAS (Safety Of Life At Sea) Convention and is mandatory for the 148 contracting governments who have signed up to this.

Shoulder Measurements

Therefore it’s for entries no deeper than 3 metres, with an unobstructed vertical lift, a straight ladder into a dark chamber.

ECITB Medium Risk Confined Space

This course specifically concentrates on medium entries with adequate ventilation, natural or mechanical, where access is simple and unobstructed and there is no likely risk of flooding. Therefore it’s for entries deeper than 3 metres, with an unobstructed vertical lift, a straight ladder into a dark chamber. Delegates will be shown two methods of entry: staying on lifeline to complete the task, where if they collapsed the retrieval equipment would be operated and removal from the life line in where rescue team would be required.

ECITB High Risk Confined Space

This High Risk course is for personnel nominated to work in or at Confined Spaces where work has been classified as high risk (NC4).  These spaces are primarily enclosed and are a potential hazardous working environment and where self contained breathing apparatus is required to be worn.

STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (PSSR)
Newcastle

This training is intended to meet the requirements set out in Section A-VI/1 of the STCW Code for training in personal safety and social responsibilities. The training forms part of the requirements for basic training for seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on board ship on the business of that ship as part of the ship’s complement with designated safety or pollution prevention duties in the operation of the ship. The training must be undertaken before new entrants are assigned to any such shipboard duties. The objective of the training is to give all persons intending to go to sea a basic induction in safety procedures and accident prevention and to familiarise them with the employment conditions and working environment on board merchant vessels.
