Course Overview

OPITO Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) Controlling Emergencies Competence Assessment tests competency against OPITO standards.

The assessment involves taking part in a minimum of three scenarios in a purpose-built simulator which replicates the main features of a delegate's own installation.

Coaching days are available ahead of the assessment and up to two delegates can be assessed over a minimum of three days.


Course Objectives

Delegates completing an OPITO Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) Controlling Emergencies Competence Assessment will be able to;

  • Meet OPITO standards for OIM controlling emergencies
  • Successfully pass a minimum of three scenarios undertaken during the OPITO assessment

Course Content

An OPITO Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) Controlling Emergencies Competence Assessment includes a minimum of three possible emergency scenarios, which are based upon a major incident chosen from;

  1. Accommodation fire
  2. Collision or wave damage causing structural collapse
  3. Explosion and fire
  4. Helicopter incident
  5. Loss of stability (mobile installations)
  6. Pipeline incident
  7. Well control incident

Prerequisites

In order to complete an OPITO Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) Controlling Emergencies Competence Assessment, delegates must have a formal declaration from an employer confirming they have:

  • Achieved the performance criteria in element 1.1 in the workplace
  • Satisfied the core essential knowledge and asset type knowledge requirements
  • Been deemed ready for formal assessment against elements 1. 2 to 1.6 before attending
