OPITO Rigger Competence Assessment & Reassessment

The OPITO Rigger route to competence certification and reassessment includes four stages.

Stages 3 and 4 are the OPITO Rigger Competence Assessments which include:

Assessment Overview

An OPITO Rigger Competence Assessment requires delegates to demonstrate the knowledge, understanding and practical skills to fulfil the role of a rigger safely and effectively.

Delegates are required to pass both a written and practical assessment over two days.

OPITO Rigger Competence Assessment

Assessment Objectives

Delegates completing an OPITO Rigger Competence Assessment will be able to;

  • Demonstrate the knowledge, understanding and practical skills to fulfill the role of a rigger safely and effectively

Assessment Content

An OPITO Rigger Competence Assessment includes;

  1. Knowledge assessment - a 'closed book' written test with a pass mark of 80%
  2. Practical assessment - leading and assisting in two lifting operations which will be conducted on AIS Survivex's large, state-of-the-art rigging frame within the Rigging and Lifting centre of excellence

Prerequisites

In order to complete an OPITO Rigger Competence Assessment, delegates must have:

  • Successfully completed the OPITO Rigger Initial Training (and hold a valid and in-date certificate)
  • Successfully completed the OPITO Rigger workplace experience (and hold a completed OPITO Workplace Logbook)

OPITO Rigger Competence Reassessment

Reassessment Objectives

Delegates completing an OPITO Rigger Competence Reassessment will be able to;

  • Demonstrate that they have maintained the competence required for the rigger role

Assessment Content

An OPITO Rigger Competence Reassessment includes;

  1. Knowledge assessment - a 'closed book' written test with a pass mark of 80%
  2. Practical assessment - leading and assisting in two lifting operations which will be conducted on AIS Survivex's large, state-of-the-art rigging frame within the Rigging and Lifting centre of excellence

Prerequisites

In order to complete an OPITO Rigger Competence Reassessment, delegates must hold:

  • A valid OPITO approved Rigger Assessment or Reassessment certificate
