ECITB Technical Test - TICA-A01 Industrial Coatings Airless Spray Application

TICA-A01 Industrial Coatings Airless Spray Application is a Sprayer Blaster Painter ECITB Technical Test.

These tests are aimed at both onshore and offshore fabric maintenance personnel who may be required to complete a "trade test" before their employment is started or approved.

Course Overview

The ECITB Technical Test - TICA-A01 Industrial Coatings Airless Spray Application includes a one hour knowledge test and a three hour practical test.

The three hour practical test consists of conducting any pre-cleaning of an abrasive blast cleaned mild steel blast plate to a specific standard in readiness for application of a protective coating. This is followed by the application of an industrial two-part coating to a specified dry film thickness without any rectification works. During the test the delegate will undertake the spray gun operator and pump man roles.

PLEASE NOTE: Delegates must pass the knowledge test to progress to the practical test.

Course Objectives

Delegates completing an ECITB Technical Test - TICA-A01 Industrial Coatings Airless Spray Application will be able to;

  • Correctly select and set-up the airless spray equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Undertake all necessary checks to ensure all equipment is ready to use
  • Check associated items such as power (air/electric), paint lines, spray gun/tip and safety devices
  • Ensure there is no dust/debris contamination on a prepared mid steel test plate
  • Monitor and recode environmental conditions throughout application

Course Content

An ECITB Technical Test -  TICA-A01 Industrial Coatings Airless Spray Application includes;

  1. Barriers/signage (warning notices)
  2. Risk Assessments and COSHH assessments are available/conducted
  3. Method statement for the task available and understood
  4. Toolbox talks (if available) conducted and signed
  5. Paint test panel as per ASTM D4228 Standard Practice for Qualification of Coating
