Case Study – Boston Energy

Boston Energy has used the programme extensively to identify new people for its business, as well as upskilling several existing team members to team leader level.

This has enabled the company to improve efficiencies for its clients and ultimately is helping to deliver the green revolution quicker.

Neil Harvey, Head of Pre-Assembly, Construction, Commissioning and Onshore O&M / Service at Boston Energy said:

“The Green Skills Programme has been fantastic for our business. With a strong pipeline of global wind energy work stretching over at least the next three years, Boston Energy needs experienced people to deliver these projects.

“We used Green Skills to train and develop several of our personnel in team leadership skills. We believe in investing in our workforce and, although we would have developed these individuals into team leaders over time, Green Skills enabled us to offer the opportunity sooner.”

Hear from a Green Skills Bootcamp delegate…

33-year-old Paul Foster from North Shields transitioned his skills from the construction industry to renewables with the help of AIS Survivex’s Green Skills Bootcamp.

“I was sick of changing careers and really wanted to move into an industry and job that I could stick with and progress. A couple of friends were working in the wind sector and it sounded great. Everything is moving towards renewable energy now and there seem to be lots of potential opportunities for future work.

“The Green Skills Bootcamp programme at AIS Survivex is perfect because it gives you all the mandatory qualifications you need to start working in the wind industry and more.

“AIS Survivex is the UK’s largest training provider for the wind industry, with one in three wind trainees choosing to come here. The training is extremely comprehensive and includes everything from sea survival skills to safety training, advanced first aid techniques and basic electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical qualifications.

“You are trained by industry professionals in environments and settings that mirror the real thing so feel very prepared to start work as a wind technician. With these industry-approved certificates under my belt, I am very hopeful of getting a job in renewables and can’t wait to get started.”
