Oil and Gas can take you all over the world because crude oil is found in a variety of different locations. One week you could be working in Dubai and the next you could be in the North Sea.

Working offshore can be tough, aside from being surrounded by nothing but sea and being away for weeks or months the conditions can vary dramatically from the extreme heat to chilling cold. Even in the North Sea the conditions are likely to be cold and wet.

You will most likely work 12 hour shifts, either day or night and share a room with a colleague on the opposite shift. Rotations vary and can be two weeks on, two weeks off up to three months on, three months off.

With such a demand on costs, everyone tends to get involved with a wide variety of job roles. As such no two days will be the same. People who work offshore often comment on the comradery felt amongst offshore workers.
