We’re extremely proud of our instructors who consistently receive 5-star reviews from delegates.

Today we celebrate Lead GWO Technical Training Instructor Steve Harrison whose amazing delegate feedback has been jumping off the page lately!

As well as making technical training easy to understand, delegates love the fact that Steve is approachable and great craic.

Here’s just some of the glowing feedback...

“Steve was an absolute cracking instructor, very knowledgeable on all three subjects and very helpful throughout. He goes above and beyond with help. Been a pleasure to attend this week.”

“Steve is a phenomenal instructor and makes everything so very simple to understand. I started with a very limited understanding and by the end I actually feel I have a reasonable understanding of all three subjects.”

“Steve the instructor was great fun but highly switched on and I learnt loads that I’ll take into the industry.”

It’s no surprise Steve is an excellent instructor – he’s worked in both industry and teaching for many years.

Born and bred in Hebburn, Steve started out as a CNC Programmer eventually becoming engineering team leader at engineering firm, TRW, responsible for high volume manufacture of engine components, quality production and all management and development of staff.

Steve moved into teaching and lectured at Newcastle College before progressing to Head of Engineering there. As well as a previous spell working for AIS Survivex, Steve also enjoyed a 12-month stint lecturing in the Middle East and was International Account Manager at the ECITB before re-joining AIS Survivex in 2022.

Steve said:

“Getting great feedback from delegates is always nice. I love teaching and it’s really rewarding seeing delegates progress into industry and advance their careers.

"Wherever I can help, I will. I keep in touch with many past delegates helping point them in the right direction for work.”

Three little known facts about Steve:

  1. He’s a dog lover and owns a Border Collie rescue called Karly.
  2.  Steve is lead singer and bass player in band – The Sour Dogs – covering existing songs playing both original music and covers.
  3. Steve used to own The Sound Company recording studio in Newcastle, which was used by many local bands and musicians. The studio was also used as a backdrop in the famous 90’s TV detective series Spender starring Jimmy Nail.
