Karl Andrews

Current serving Royal Marine, Karl Andrews, is aiming for a new career in the wind industry and is one of the first delegates on AIS Training’s new GWO Blade Repair Package.

Sunderland-born Karl, aged 31, is currently serving as a mortar fire controller in the Royal Marines responsible for observing and ordering mortar fire when on active duty.

Karl’s current military service stint ends in May 2020 so he needed to decide whether to sign up again or make the break into a new career.

Karl said: “I didn’t want to start a brand-new career in my forties so decided to train for something different now. The wind industry offers the ideal choice as its fast-growing and very much the future. My friend is currently working as a wind blade technician and, after listening to what’s involved in the job, it really appealed. I was recommended to AIS Training as you can get all the training you need for the wind industry in one place.

“I signed up for the new wind blade repair technician package and I’m loving it! AIS Training has been great. The instructors are very knowledgeable and the training package makes it really easy and straightforward to get all the relevant skills I’ll need in one hit.

“Once I’ve finished the training I’m planning to start applying for wind jobs as soon as possible. I can’t wait.”
