Leading industrial trainer, AIS Training has appointed a new instructor to help prepare local electricians for sweeping changes to electrical installation rules and regs.

Ben Graves, from Whitley Bay, will train delegates in the new Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) 18th Edition regulations for electrical installers, which were issued this July and become mandatory from January 2019.

Ben has a wealth of experience in both industry and teaching having worked as a fully time-served electrician since leaving school. As well as working in industry, Ben has been a further education lecturer and has acted as an assessor for certification body, STROMA.

The new IET 18th Edition brings in many sweeping changes to existing electrical installation rules from new technology requirements to additional circuit protection in domestic homes and new inspection and safety changes.

AIS Training is offering a three-day training course in the new IET 18th Edition regulations to take electrical professionals through the changes. Those completing the course receive a City and Guilds certificate.

Ben Graves said: “I’m delighted to be joining AIS Training as an electrical instructor for the IET 18th Edition course. In just a few weeks’ time, there are many new changes coming into effect and it’s essential that electricians are up to speed so they remain fully compliant. This training course is an excellent way to ensure you don’t miss any of the new rules. As well as giving professionals the opportunity to go through all the new changes in great detail, the course helps people find out about current best practise and provides a chance to network with other electricians.”
