AIS WINS PRESTIGIOUS QUEEN’S AWARD
Leading offshore and renewable energy specialist, AIS, is celebrating after being named winner of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise – the UK’s highest accolade for business success.
AIS received the award for International Trade in recognition of its phenomenal business success in the UK and overseas. Over the past three years the North Tyneside company has grown by 120% - creating more than 100 new jobs, including several senior level appointments - and has established additional bases in the Caribbean, Aberdeen, Middle East, Kazakhstan and Humberside.
AIS works closely with the global energy, maritime and heavy industry sectors to find solutions to common problems such as how to reduce costs, improve safety and competence and overcome skill shortages. From designing, manufacturing and installing world-class insulation and fire protection systems to providing maintenance programmes, skills training, software solutions and online industrial products, AIS boasts a diverse business portfolio.
The company has invested heavily to create a state-of-the-art manufacturing centre, 150,000 sq ft specialist training village and onsite hotel on North Tyneside. Here, AIS Technical produces and exports the world’s thinnest and most technologically advanced jacketing systems, which are used to protect pipe work and offshore structures against corrosion, weather and jet-fires and are safety critical for high-risk processes like oil and gas extraction.
At the company’s state-of-the-art £10m training village more than 100 industry-approved courses are delivered to 17,500 delegates annually in skills such as sea survival, working at height, wind industry training, rigging and lifting, rope access, painting and blasting and CompEx electrical.
