OPEC was originally formed by five members: Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. These were later joined by Qatar, Indonesia, Libya, UAE, Algeria, Nigeria, Ecuador and Gabon although in subsequent years the two latter members suspended their membership.
