OPITO Offshore Emergency Response Team Leader (OERTL) Further

Every offshore emergency response team on an offshore oil and gas platform or drilling rig will have a team leader to coordinate the response to an emergency situation.

OPITO have established specialist emergency response standards to ensure offshore emergency response team leaders can direct a team safely and effectively.


Course Overview

OPITO OERTL Further training gives offshore emergency response team leaders (OERTLs) the opportunity to practice and maintain the skills required to lead offshore emergency response team members (OERTMs).

Delegates will have the opportunity to perform aspects of their role they cannot reasonably practise offshore including helideck emergency response situtations or incidents.

The training involves simulated scenarios including real smoke and fire.


Course Objectives

Delegates completing an OPITO OERTL Further training course will be able to;

  • Build on the skills and knowledge from initial OERTL training

Course Content

An OPITO OERTL Further training course includes;

  1. OERTL Further theory training
  2. OERTL Further practical training in leading emergency response teams

Prerequisites

In order to complete an OPITO OERTL Further training course, delegates must hold:

  • A valid and in-date OPITO OERTL certificate OR OPITO OERTL Further certificate

PLEASE NOTE: This course is delivered by Offshore Training Newcastle (OTN) at Newcastle International Airport Training Academy or Vital Fire Solutions at County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service Training Centre.
