Scott Bradley heads up GWO Blade Repair training at AIS Training’s GWO Centre of Excellence.
Scott started his career as a rope access technician, taking on various building maintenance roles, He then went on to work within the renewables industry as a blade repair technician for Siemens, completing various types of repairs along the way before deciding to transition into an instructor role.
Both onshore and offshore on-the-job experience allows Scott to bring a wealth of expertise and knowledge into the classroom. Having been a student himself and now an instructor, Scott is equipped to answer any questions that come his way.
He said: “The thriving wind industry and demand for blade repair technicians was what drew me to renewables, and I haven’t looked back since. The best thing for me about my job is the interaction with delegates and helping them come out of the course with a certification they need – it can be quite rewarding as an instructor.
“Over the duration of the course, you really get to know the delegates and watch their confidence grow. As their confidence grows you can really see them enjoying what they are doing and their enthusiasm growing as the days go on. Being able to use my experience to give them tips, I can see it on their face as they enjoy it more and more and it’s really rewarding that way.
“Since joining AIS Training, although the facilities were already fantastic, I noticed a few improvements we could make to really go that extra mile. We have since introduced better extraction and lighting and Sundstrom respirator masks - all helping to create a more comfortable training environment for our delegates.
“Over the duration of the course I aim to create a good balance of classroom and practical. It’s important for the delegates to have adequate hands-on time to familiarise themselves with different repair methods, enabling them to hit the ground running when they leave the course.”
