Advanced Industrial Solutions has been crowned ‘Small Business of the Year’ at the prestigious NCJ Media North East business awards.

AIS, which is based on the Tyne Tunnel Trading Estate in North Shields, beat off hundreds of other businesses to win the title at a glittering awards ceremony organised by two North East newspapers.

The award is the latest in a long line of successes for the company, which manufactures and installs bespoke insulation products and provides specialist training and industrial services for the offshore and industrial sectors in rope access, confined space, insulation, rigging and health and safety.

Since opening its new 10,000 square foot specialist training centre and manufacturing facility last January, AIS has seen demand for its products and services grow massively, resulting in the company expanding its workforce from six in 2009 to a team of 32 today. It was also recently awarded the title North Tyneside Business of the Year by North Tyneside Council and also won the Northumberland and Tyneside heat of the North East business awards competition.

Celebrating his win, Paul Stonebanks, managing director of AIS, said: “We are delighted to win this prestigious award especially in the face of some extremely stiff competition.

“Although we originally set up as an insulation company, we’ve always worked hard to keep our fingers on the pulse of what clients want, at the same time as looking to new business opportunities. Today we deliver a one-stop-shop for industrial needs and offer everything from insulation jackets and energy surveys to training and online shopping.

“It is this passion to innovate and be the best at what we do that’s contributed to our massive growth over the past couple of years and clearly caught the eye of the judges.

“This award is the icing on the cake for what’s been a fantastic year so far and it’s a great tribute to all the team who’ve worked incredibly hard to help the business achieve its success.”
