The Global Wind Organisation’s (GWO) Annual Report confirms AIS Training’s position as the UK’s largest wind training provider in 2018.

One in five of the world’s wind trainees now choose to train at AIS Training’s state-of-the-art wind training centres in Newcastle and Grimsby.

GWO’s Report also shows the rapid rise in people training for the fast-growing wind sector last year with continued growth expected in the next two years.

Paul Knowles, Vice President at AIS Training, part of the 3T Energy Group, said: “We welcome the latest Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Report which underlines the wind industry’s commitment to setting and following the highest safety and technical standards. The Report shows a substantial increase of 65% on the number of people training to work in the wind sector in 2018 compared to the previous year and it’s clear the industry is seeing unprecedented growth with renewable energy now becoming one of the fastest-growing energy generation sources globally. This growth is expected to ramp up as many countries race to meet their 2020 targets for renewable energy.

“We are pleased to see that AIS Training has maintained its position as the UK’s largest and the world’s third largest GWO wind energy trainer, with 1 in 5 people in the UK choosing to train with us. Our figures for last year reflect the overall rise with the number of wind courses being booked with AIS Training up 40% from 2016.

“As well as general mandatory GWO courses, we are seeing an increase in the number of people signing up for more specialist wind courses such as Enhanced First Aid, Basic Technical Training (BTT) and Blade Repair courses. This drive by GWO for a more standardised approach to skills and competency training in the wind sector is welcomed and highlights the industry’s focus on safety and project efficiency.

"In addition to our wind course figures, we have delivered global onsite training for many of our clients, which takes place onshore and offshore worldwide".
