Experienced scaffolder, Jordan Lovell, is celebrating after successfully completing his mandatory offshore training with AIS Training and now aims to get an offshore job in the oil and gas industry.
Jordan, aged 33 from Edinburgh, could earn up to three times as much money as an offshore scaffolder with plenty of quality time off to spend with his two children, aged 13 and 8. For him, transferring to an offshore career is a no brainer and something he’s always dreamed about to make a better life for himself, partner Leanne and the kids.
After learning about AIS Training’s 20-acre training village in Newcastle from a friend, Jordan booked onto the BOSIET package, along with his brother, who is also keen to find an offshore job.
Jordan said: “I’ve worked in the construction sector since I was 21 but I’ve always been interested in working offshore. When I friend recommended AIS Training I decided to go for it. The free finance option at AIS made the course affordable for me as it meant I could spread the cost over 12 months instead of forking everything out at once.
“The training experience at AIS was spot on. From the moment I arrived I was made to feel really welcome. The instructors were brilliant – really supportive and funny. They made all the information interesting and very easy to take in. Even the food in the canteen was good! I’ve made loads of good contacts on the course and I’m very confident of getting my first offshore job soon.”

18 months on from completing his mandatory offshore training with AIS Training, Jordan is branching out on his own and is fulfilling a lifelong dream to start his own business.
Experienced scaffolder, Jordan Lovell, is celebrating after launching his own business JLDK Scaffolding and is targeting the offshore sector.
He said: “I’ve worked in the construction sector since I was 21 but, as well as wanting to go offshore, I was interested in starting my own scaffolding company. Now I’ve decided the time is right and I’ve gone for it with lots of help and support from City Access Scaffolding.
“Thanks to AIS Training, I have all my offshore training certificates and have offshore experience too so that makes my company much more marketable. The training experience at AIS Training was great. From brilliant instructors to excellent food, I couldn’t fault it. Highly recommended!”
