OPITO Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST) is an introductory safety training programme that introduces new starters to the oil and gas industry, and ensures the knowledge and understanding of the existing workforce is maintained and current.
Course Overview
OPITO Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST) is designed to introduce delegates to the key safety knowledge and understanding all employees working in the oil and gas industry are required to maintain.
Delegates will gain an appreciation of the potential hazards and control measurements they may encounter offshore.
The training includes both theoretical and practical elements which is entirely classroom based. Both the written and practical tests are designed to demonstrate understanding of the subject content covered.
Course Objectives
Delegates completing an OPITO Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST) course will be able to;
- Demonstrate an understanding of the key safety elements of working offshore
- Understand potential hazards that can occur when working offshore
Course Content
An OPITO Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST) course includes;
- Major accident hazards
- Workplace hazards and personal safety
- Risk management
- Control of work
- Helicopter safety
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for OPITO Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST).
However for delegates working offshore it is expected that OPITO MIST will be completed after OPITO Basic Offshore Safety and Emergency Induction Training (BOSIET) to enable training providers to build on the knowledge previously attained. If you have not completed a BOSIET, this must be done prior to travelling offshore.
