_____

Mark McDonald – from Atlas Professionals says;

“Fire certs could be just the ticket to secure greenhand work”

“We’re experiencing an influx of clients looking for professionals with their OPITO emergency response training certificates in-place.

Currently we know of just two candidates with fire training under their belts available to mobilise now, and the rest are working…”

Robyn Prati – from Atlas Professionals says;

“No question is a bad question”

“Don’t be afraid to ask questions! If you aren’t sure about something, just ask us – there’s nothing we haven’t heard before and it will show you are enthusiastic and eager to learn.

Enthusiasm, flexibility and perseverance are often key to securing your first trip.”

Jodi McDonald – from Tulloch Recruitment says;

“Try to secure some relevant onshore experience”

“Learn a trade first, or gain some onshore experience in a labour or construction role, such as ad-hoc banksman slinger or rigger”.

We are lucky at Tulloch in that we’re uniquely positioned to place candidates onshore with ourselves as a potential route to offshore employment with our sister company Team Recruitment further down the line.”

Morna Forbes – from Team Recruitment says;

“Pick up the phone”

“While submitting your CV is a good place to start, checking in with us via the phone will make you stand out from the crowd and give us a better idea of who you are – and you never know, if the ideal job for you arises you may just find yourself in the right place at the right time!”

I’ve had good success getting applicants started offshore recently as we’ve seen an increased demand and a willingness to take a chance on greenhand workers.”

Eilidh Cargill – from AGR says;

“Do your research”

“It’s great that you’ve decided you want to work offshore, but it’s important to take the initiative and learn more about the industry on your own steam.

For example, if you’re interested in working drill crew, research top 10 drilling contractors and try to identify what they do as well as who you might like to work for and why. This will not only show us you’re serious but will help us place you in the right role, with the right employer.

Having a good idea of what jobs might suit you and whether you have any transferrable skills and experience is also really helpful.”

Romy Bruce – from AGR says;

“Have your references ready”

“Who you are matters as much as what you’ve done. When you submit your CV try to include a couple of references, preferably from an employer or someone you’ve worked closely with, singing your praises to make you stand out from the competition.”
