Former construction-worker and loyal customer, Kevin Burns, has just renewed his Basic Offshore Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) certificate for the third time with AIS Training and is heading offshore for his latest contract.
After working as a joiner in the construction industry, Kevin decided to make the move offshore 12 years ago – something he’s never regretted.
Over the years, Kevin has done all of his offshore training with AIS Training, successfully completing everything from offshore survival to painting and blasting and rigging and lifting courses.
Being multi-skilled has helped his offshore career flourish and Kevin now has his own limited company as an architectural supervisor overseeing the upgrading of offshore facilities.
He said: “I made the decision to go offshore 12 years ago as I wanted to spend more quality time with the family and offshore rotations give you the chance to do that.
“Even though I had a trade, it wasn’t easy finding offshore work and it took eight months of relentlessly chasing recruiters and potential employers before securing my first offshore contract. But I can honestly say that I’ve never looked back and now have a much better quality of life.
