Former SSI-workers are being offered the chance to gain one of the most highly-prized offshore skills thanks to AIS Training.
OPITO Blaster Painter courses, fully-funded by Government, will be delivered at AIS’s state-of-the-art training village in North Tyneside and will qualify former-SSI workers to prepare, paint and blast offshore structures at introductory and advanced levels.
Run over three days, the level 1 training course is the only blasting and painting qualification outside of Aberdeen which has formal approval from OPITO – the standard setting body and authority on training for the oil and gas sector. The advanced competency assessment level equips individuals with the skills to check any potential or existing painting and blasting employees reach the required industry standards.
Blasting and painting are some of the most sought after qualifications in the offshore and onshore oil and gas sector so is a useful addition to the CV’s of those SSI workers still looking for work.
AIS is also offering additional courses including OPITO fireproofing, fork-lift truck driving and overhead crane operation free-of-charge to eligible SSI workers.
